Tanzania

The beginnings
For the last four years 2 UK volunteers have supported and visited a remote village in Dar-es-sallam in Tanzania. Both volunteers have raised awareness of the deprivation and lack of education for children and young people out there. They have built school links with the local children and young people in Tanzania with children and young people in the UK.

The Project

Children: 100-150 children

Comments

  • I am only just beginning to realise the impact my time in Tanzania has had on me.
  • The people in Temeke are some of the most amazing people I have ever met and I continue to be thankful that our paths crossed.
  • The children and young people became a part of my every day life and it was so difficult to leave them at the end of our stay.
  • I learnt about people and about the reality of living for so many. I value now the simplicity of welcoming others, of listening and of allowing relationships to change and grow.
  • My experience in Tanzania has given me so much more than I could have ever given myself. I only hope that I can find ways to live my life in a way that does justice to such a challenging and humbling experience.
