The beginnings
In 2006, a group of 8 volunteers arrived in the slum areas of Nairobi (Dagoretti) to support the summer projects set up by the Salesian Sisters and Kenyan Volunteers.
The UK Volunteers had been preparing for the project for the previous 6 months-planning lessons, gathering resources for recreation and raising £1000 to support the project.

Personal Reflections
We all felt privileged to be a part of something so brilliant and life-giving and lucky that we were able to develop lasting friendships with the other volunteers
- I think the fruits of this project will be seen throughout the year – it has helped to build community
- I have done things I didn’t think were possible
- I have become more confident when talking to others and expressing myself
- I really felt challenged and can see areas of real inner growth
- The whole experience took me deeper in my relationship with God influencing all my relationships on camp
