Volunteering in the UK
Volunteers can get involved in Formation Camps held each year in the UK. The camps/projects are all planned and run by volunteers themselves. Click here to find out about Formation Camps.
Volunteers move into an area and spend 10 days running a VIDES camp/project for local children and young people. These take place during school holidays. The camp/project caters for 7-11 year olds during the day and 12-16 year olds in the evening. A range of activities is on offer such as music, arts and crafts, sport, games, dance and social educational activities.
VIDES aims to create a happy and supportive environment where both volunteers and young people are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Volunteers receive training prior to and during the camp to help them work more effectively as part of a group and with the children and young people.
Formation camps have been held in the UK since 1995 in Carlisle, Millom, Newcastle, Liverpool, Purley, Renfrewshire, Glasgow and Birmingham Camp.
VIDES also offers 14-16 year olds the opportunity to explore and discover the 'world' of VIDES by getting involved in the VIDES for Youth weekend.
