Volunteering Abroad
VIDES UK offers different opportunities for volunteering abroad:
- Short term (3-6 months)
- Long term (7 months - 3 years)
- Group projects
- Volunteers can also take part in Formation Camps run by VIDES throughout the world. For more information visit www.vides.org
Why volunteer abroad?
Volunteering abroad is an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of a mission project. Volunteers can experience another culture, share time and skills with others and develop new skills. It is both challenging and rewarding and is certainly an experience that will never be forgotten.
What can you do?
VIDES volunteers work with children, young people and women at risk through educational and development projects. There are opportunities for teaching, medical work and youth work. Before going abroad it is important that volunteers feel part of VIDES and have an experience of the way it works. There is therefore a minimum 6 month preparation process.
Where can you go?
Most places are in developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. VIDES UK volunteers have worked in the
Philippines,
Cambodia,
Ethiopia,
the Dominican Republic,
Hong Kong, Venezuela,
Kenya,
Tanzania,
Italy,
South Africa,
Zambia,
Hungary,
Thailand,
Bolivia,
El Salvador and
Mexico.
